Apliclor implements Ewon proactive remote monitoring

With over 100 years of history, Apliclor generates value for their customers by providing quality water treatment solutions. They do this by providing chemicals in a timely manner, by offering engineering solutions as part of a turnkey project, or by supplying, installing, and maintaining specialized equipment tailored to each customer’s needs.

An important part of their portfolio is the design and manufacture of their own chlorine dioxide generation and electro-chlorination equipment. In addition to the design, development, and execution of water treatment projects, a differential aspect of Apliclor is the maintenance and aftersales service adapted to the requirements of each client. 

A cost-effective, easy-to-deploy solution

In order to avoid the need for an operator to frequently visit the plant to monitor key parameters, Apliclor decided to trust the Ewon solution to help them optimize all aspects of their operations. The Ewon Flexy allows them to connect to their machines through Talk2M and collect data no matter where they are deployed.

After seeing the power and versatility of Ewon’s solution, which allows them to remotely and securely access any PLC for maintenance tasks or updates, Apliclor decided to install an Ewon Flexy in over 100 of their facilities.

Easy status overview of water treatment plants based on PLC data

In this case, Apliclor is using an Ewon Flexy 201 to allow its customers to see live data and to view the history of the most important parameters of the system in place. The system in question is a water treatment plant, consisting of double-stage closed sand bed filters, with all their controls for levels, turbidity and chemical reagent dosage.

For the chemical section of the company (dedicated to the manufacture and sale of water treatment chemicals), Apliclor is considering the possibility of installing an Ewon for each customer to monitor the level of the chemical deposits they sell. This way, Apliclor can anticipate orders and even plan the distribution (for example, different deliveries in the same geographical area). In short, the data sent back from the plants by the Ewon Flexy allows them to be more efficient.

Data visualization enables better decision making

By using an Ewon Flexy-based solution, Apliclor is able to commission its installations remotely. It also allows them to send only specialized technicians to the field equipment and to avoid travel of their engineers by giving them the possibility to offer remote support if needed. When engineers travel less, it’s easier for them to achieve a good work-life balance and, of course, it increases their productivity.

That’s not all, thanks to Ewon Flexy and its ability to generate alarms, Apliclor can remotely anticipate possible problems in any type of installation, thus offering a proactive service that is highly appreciated by their customers.

Last but not least, Apliclor is now able to visualize the main variables of the system through a synoptic and to access historical data. In short, Apliclor has implemented a small SCADA at a low cost thanks to Ewon’s viewON application, which lets them easily design local dashboards, hosted in the Ewon Flexy. They fully leverage its ability to generate dynamic web pages that allow engineers to interact with PLC, even remotely.
