Predictive site survey (design phase)

A predictive site survey uses digital floor plans and RF modeling to simulate wireless coverage before deployment. It helps identify the best access point locations, estimate coverage and roaming performance, and ensure the network is designed for reliable operation from the outset. You'll receive a report including: 

  • Coverage maps (signal strength heatmaps)
  • Recommended access point placement
  • Suggested hardware, antennas, and configuration
  • Practical recommendations for improving performance

On-site survey (validation and troubleshooting)

An HMS wireless expert visits your site to perform real-world measurements and assess actual network conditions. This on-site survey helps validate the network design, identify sources of interference and environmental impacts, and troubleshoot performance issues in existing wireless networks.

    Following the survey, you will receive a detailed report including: 

    • Coverage maps (signal strength heatmaps)
    • Interference analysis (signal-to-interference ratio)
    • Recommended access point placement
    • Suggested hardware, antennas, and configuration
    • Practical recommendations for improving performance

    These examples illustrate how a site survey improves wireless performance by identifying coverage gaps and optimizing access point placement.

    Before: 

    The initial installation used two access points. However, areas further from these access points experienced weak signal strength, leading to unreliable or intermittent connectivity. This is visible in the coverage map, where red and orange indicate areas with low signal strength.

    After: 

    Following the site survey, a third access point was added to improve coverage. This resulted in consistent wireless connectivity across the entire installation. In the updated coverage map, this is reflected by more uniform green zones and absence of yellow and red zones.

    Recommended approach

    2.Follow up with an on-site survey to validate performance and optimize the installation under real operating conditions.
